Red is the color of the Kansas City Chiefs.
The NFL team that is seeking to establish league history by winning a third straight Super Bowl championship on Sunday, February 9, can enter the showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles crimming –we mean brimming— with confidence.
Crim Primary School kicked off the start of Super Bowl weekend with its results in its annual good-hearted Super Bowl Food Drive for Hunger game.
For the past two weeks leading up to the big game, the Crim Primary School community has donated canned and boxed food items that will be presented to the Somerset Food Bank.
The food is placed in two “team” bins that were placed in the school’s main lobby.
One bin was called “Team Red” and the other bin was labeled “Team Black.”
While either the Chiefs or Eagles will hoist the coveted Lombardi Trophy that the Super Bowl champion will be awarded Sunday night in New Orleans, the Crim Souper Bowl winner was “Team Red.”
“Team Red” collected 1,304 items or points donated while “Team Black” was defeated with a total of 1,007 items.
Scoring is done by the amount of items dropped into each bin.
. As an example, “Team Red” or “Team Black” received 12 points if a student placed a 12-pack of Tuna cans in that team’s bin or 8 points if an 8-pack of crackers was dropped into a bin.
The grand total of 2,311 collected this February shattered last year’s final point total of 2,029.
Last year in Crim’s Souper Bowl showdown, the Chiefs defeated the 49ers, 1,248 to 781.
Two days later, the real Chiefs beat the real 49ers, 25-22, to win Super Bowl LVIII on February 11, 2024.
Gretchen English, the Crim School Nurse who has served as the devoted Commissioner of the Souper Bowl for eight years, revealed that the bins did not sport the name of the NFL teams playing in the current Super Bowl to be “more cohesive” for the classes and grades.
She also applauded the reception of the good-hearted Crim community.
“The crim community is always so generous for our Souper Bowl Food drive,” Ms. English said. “We are so very thankful that we can give the Somerset Food Bank this food when there are so many families in need.”
Regardless it it is Kansas City or Philadelphia that captures the Lombardi Trophy on Sunday, the Crim Primary School community.is the champion.
