Four Bridgewater-Raritan High School wrestlers, including champion Matthew DiEduardo, advanced to the state tournament by placing at the Region 4 tournament at Union High School on Saturday, March 1. DiEduardo, the winner by fall in the Region 4 final at 165 pounds, 132-pound Mark Marsigliano and 190-pound Lerrod Smalls, who each placed third, and Trent Levash, who finished fourth at 215 pounds, each placed in the top four of his weight class and will each wrestle in the state tournament that will be held from Thursday, March 6 through Saturday, March 8, at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. The top four place winners in each weight class at all eight regions that ended in the state on March 1 qualified for the state tournament.

The magical run through the state sectional tournament came to an end for the Bridgewater-Raritan High School girls' soccer team. Bridgewater-Raritan, seeded third, was eliminated by a state power, top-seeded Westfield High School, 1-0, in the championship game of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 state sectional tournament on Thursday, November 14, at Kehler Stadium in Westfield. Bridgewater-Raritan, which knocked off second-seeded Bayonne High School, 4-0, in the state sectional semifinals on Monday, November 11, ended the season at 16-5-1. Westfield, ranked No. 8 in New Jersey, is now 18-1 and a strong favorite to win the Group 4 state championship.

Bridgewater-Raritan' High School's girls' cross-country team will compete in the Group 4 state championship meet on Saturday, November 9. The state Group 4 meet will be raced at Holmdel Park. Bridgewater-Raritan qualified with its impressive third-place finish at the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 state race at Greystone Park in Morris Plains on Saturday, November 2. Bridgewater-Raritan scored 98 points to break 100 for the first time since 2009, when that team scored 91 points. The following runners placed for Bridgewater-Raritan at the state sectional race to qualify for the Group 4 meet on November 9. Sofia Daniels ran a season-best 19:57 to place 12th. Jess Borchert finished 14th with a time of 19:59, 17. Kaitlyn Chu ran her season-best 20:14 to end in 17th place. Carinna Mastropasqua finished 27th with her best time of 21:11. 28. Lana Guelich ended 28th with her best running of 21:17. 29. Stacy Yang ran her best race to end in 29th place in 1:17SB, Sophia Rizarri was 33rd with her best time of 21:26.

A thrilling overtime victory was achieved when the Bridgewater-Raritan High School football team defeated Irvington High School, 34-33, in the opening round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 5 state playoffs on Friday, November 1, at Basilone Memorial Field in Bridgewater. Bridgewater-Raritan gained a 34-27 lead in overtime when Jordan Johnson scored on a 27-yard TD pass from Declan Kurdyla. Joe Squicciarini connected on the conversion kick to send Bridgewater-Raritan to a 34-27 lead. Irvington scored on its possession in OT to produce a 34-33 score, but the conversion kick hit off the goal post, and Bridgewater-Raritan held on to improve to 4-6 and advance to the semifinals of the state sectional playoffs. Irvington fell to 4-4.

Senior Audrey Martinho, who has contributed to a 12-4-1 season for the Bridgewater-Raritan High School girls’ soccer team this fall, announced that she will continue her collegiate career at Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham Campus in Madison. Martinho, who is a four-year varsity player and a three-year starter, is one of the tri-captains of this year’s team that has won a division title. She was a member of the Somerset County and division championship team her freshman year. “ Audrey is a very good technical player who has played both midfield and forward for the high school,” Coach Sean Casey said. Coach Casey also reported that Martinho’s two older sisters were also standout high school players for Bridgewater-Raritan who now play in college. Her oldest sister, Amanda, is a grad student finishing her last year of eligibility at Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham. Her other sister, Ashley, is a junior on the Lafayette College soccer team.

Bridgewater-Raritan, which is 3-6, is expected to qualify in the North Jersey, Group 5 state playoffs that begin the weekend of November 1-2. The victory lifted Philipsburg to 71.

Kayla Davidson, a junior and a three-year starter on the Bridgewater-Raritan High School girls’ soccer team, announced her early decision to attend college. She will continue her career at The College of New Jersey after she graduates in June of 2026. “Kayla has helped solidify our defense as an outside back. A very talented and unselfish player,” Bridgewater-Raritan coach Sean Casey said. Davidson has been a force during an 8-3-1 season for Bridgewater-Raritan, which will seek to upset Rutgers Preparatory School in the semifinals of the Somerset County Tournament on Tuesday, October 15. Rutgers Prep is ranked No. 1 in New Jersey.

Yashvi Shah, who starred as a freshman last spring on the girls' golf team at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, won the Drive, Chip, and Putt regional qualifier at The Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus on Saturday, September 21. She will now compete at the famed Augusta National in the finals on April 6, 2025, in Georgia. The current sophomore at Bridgewater-Raritan High School first qualified at Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station on June 3 in a local qualifying event and then moved on to a sub-regional qualifier at Fiddlers Elbow Country Club in Bedminster on August 13, where she qualified for the regionals at The Ridgewood Country Club.

Declan Kurdyla connected on four touchdown passes and Bridgewater-Raritan High School pitched a shutout in the second half and held on to defeat Hunterdon Central Reginal High School, 28-20 , Big Central Conference American Silver Division football play on Friday evening, September 20, in Flemington. Bridgewater-Raritan pulled away from a 21-20 edge in the final seconds of the second quarter when Kurdyla found Jordan Johnson in the back corner of the end zone for a 10-yard TD pass. Joe Squiccianni followed with his fourth conversion kick that closed the scoring for the game at 28-20. Two of Kurdyla's TD passes were caught by Dylan Tierney. Kurdyla has thrown 11 TD passes on the year. Bridgewater-Raritan, which improved to 2-2, will play its home opener on Friday, September 27, at newly renovated Basilone Field against Ridge High School, which is 2-1 after upsetting 15th-ranked Phillipsburg High School, 28-21, on September 20

Another week that featured an offensive shootout resulted in one difference for the Bridgewater-Raritan High School football team. This week produced a victory. A wild shootout victory at that. Bridgewater-Raritan lost a lead and then rallied to post a 52-48 victory over Piscataway High School on Friday evening, September 6, in Piscataway. Nick DiEsso scored a touchdown from five yards out with 1:39 left in the game to provide the winning points. Piscataway scored a touchdown to gain a 48-45 lead with 3:25 remaining in the fourth period before Bridgewater-Raritan drove to score the winning touchdown by DiEsso. The victory was a rebound for Bridgewater-Raritan, which opened the 2024 scholastic football season with a 40-38 defeat against Notre Dame High School on Friday, August 30, in Lawrence Township.
