Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s boys’ swim team, ranked No. 3 in the state, was defeated by New Jersey’s No. 1 team and its nemesis, Westfield High School, 92-78, in the North 2, Public A state sectional championship meet on Thursday, February 13, at the Raritan Bay YMCA in Perth Amboy.

The victory by Westfield, which improved to 13-0 this winter, signaled the fourth straight season that the state power from Union County has defeated Bridgewater-Raritan in the state sectional championship meet. Westfield will now bid to win a third straight Public A state championshp and a state-record 29th.

Bridgewater-Raritan ended the season with a 9-1 record while Coach Evan Seavey’s team won the Somerset County and Skyland Conference championship meets.

Just one day earlier, the Bridgewater-Raritan girls' swim team defeated Westfield in the North 2, Public A state final. 88-82. at Raritan Bay YMCA.
