BR field hockey in states

Bridgewater-Raritan High School's field hockey team, seeded 12th in the North Jersey, Group 4 state sectional tournament, pulled off a 5-4 upset victory over fifth-seeded Livingston High School on Monday, November 4, in Livingston.

The result marked the second straight year when Bridgewater-Raritan opened the state sectional tournament with an upset over an Essex County school. Bridgewater-Raritan was seeded 13th and surprised fourth-seeded Montclair High School , 3-2, last fall.

Grace Miller and Angelina Carey each connected for two goals, while Ella Daehnke scored one goal and Emma Ciocon had one assist to lead Bridgewater-Raritan past Livingston.

Ava Mobus made nine saves to each the victory in goal.

Bridgewater-Raritan will play fourth-seeded Ridge High School in the state sectional quarterfinals on Wednesday, November 6, in Basking Ridge.

Last year, Ridge knocked Bridgewater-Raritan out of the state sectional tournament's quarterfinals with a 5-1 victory. That 2023 state sectional game had followed Bridgewater-Raritan's upset of Montclair.
