BR Senior Day 2024

The Bridgewater-Raritan High School girls’ tennis team is having a dream season.

On Thursday, September 26, Bridgewater-Raritan was awarded the top seed in the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 state sectional tournament that will begin on Tuesday, October 1.

The NJSIAA’s state tournament seeding meeting was held on September 26.

Earlier this week, Bridgewater-Raritan celebrated Senior Day for Class of 2025 players Jess Kozrya, Madison McInerney, and Riya Senjalia, and a large sea of supporters could be seen throughout the Green Knoll Tennis Center for the match against North Hunterdon Regional High School

Fresh off of a milestone championship at the Westfield Blue Devil Invitational over the

Weekend of September 21-22, , the largest home crowd of the season witnessed Bridgewater-Raritan (10-2, 5-0) sweep its way to a 5-0 victory on Senior Day over division rival North Hunterdon (0-7, 0-5) Tuesday, September 24, in Bridgewater.

“I’m always happy when our girls get the recognition for the success that they’ve had throughout

the season,” said first-year Bridgewater-Raritan head coach Evan Rosenberg of the big crowd

and the support the Panthers have been getting this season. “A lot of friends and family came for Senior Day, and that was awesome, so I hope that we see more of this, because the girls feed off of it. They feed off of each other and help them out, but when their friends, family, and fresh faces come, it’s always fun. You kind of rise to the level of the spectators.”

On Senior Day, Kozyra and McInerney: the Bridgewater-Raritan co-captains, swept their way to a pair of 6-0, 6-0 victories in first singles and second singles, respectively, while Senjalia and sophomore Vivian Chao delivered a 6-0, 6-1 triumph in first doubles.

Next up for the Panthers is the Somerset County Tournament starting at

9 a.m. on Friday, September 27, at the Pingry School.

Bridgewater-Raritan will then return to the Green Knoll Tennis Center for its final home match of the regular season Monday, September 30, at 4 p.m. against Bernards High School.

According to the NJSIAA website, the dates for the state team tournament are as follows on the

court of the higher-seeded team, barring schedule adjustments due to inclement weather:

Tuesday, October 1 (Round 1), Tuesday, October 8 (Round 2), Thursday, October 10 (Round 3),

and Tuesday, October 15 (sectional finals). The state semifinals and state finals for the team

the tournament will both be contested Thursday, October 17, at Mercer County Park in West Windsor.

“Look at what happened today (Senior Day). This is the most support we have gotten on these courts, for girls’ or boys’, since I’ve been around and for years now,” concluded Rosenberg of his seniors’ impact on Bridgewater-Raritan girls’ tennis. “It’s that kind of attitude and commitment level. There is a mix of old and young, and this is all our young girls know about what our varsity B-R tennis program looks like.”

The first-year coach added:

“That’s really what it is about: leaving that legacy behind of what we want our team and our

program to be.”
