A crosswalk is much more sensible—and safe— than a jaywalk.
That was the message that the highly dedicated Security Team for the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District shared when the officers successfully completed a series of presentations for the Class of 2026 at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.
Over the course of the program, the Security Team officers engaged with 17 Health classes of junior students.
According to the Security Team, the officers delivered an important message about the dangers of jaywalking and the consequences that can result from it.
During each class session, students were encouraged to use the designated crosswalks when crossing Garretson Road or any other busy streets near the high school campus. The Security Team emphasized that using crosswalks is the safest option.
According to the Security Team, which is under the guidance of Coordinator Mike Voorhees and Assistant Coordinator Ted Lewis, the initiative would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts of school staff and students who developed the curriculum, created a flyer to include in morning announcements, and helped organize the logistics of the campaign. Their support ensured that the message was clear, consistent, and impactful across all participating classes.
In conclusion, the Security Team stated, “By prioritizing education and awareness, the Bridgewater-Raritan School District Security Team hopes to foster a culture of safety and responsibility among students and significantly reduce the risks associated with jaywalking.”
