A performance that would rival a professional showing was staged at the Bridgewater-Raritan High School auditorium during the first week of April.

It was in that theatre where the skills of the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Theatre Arts were on full exhibit.

The students and staff who comprise this highly acclaimed Bridgewater-Raritan High School Theatre Arts joined forces to present the hit musical Footloose on the evenings of Thursday, April 3, and Friday, April 4, and then again at 2 p.m. and at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 5.

The audience who witnessed these shows came away impressed with how gifted the students sang and danced on stage and how the crew off stage worked their magic.

The music pit crew also produced sound music, courtesy of the conductor, Dr. Tom Bourgault, the Co-Director of the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Band with Nick Mossa.

One could see how well-trained and prepared the students were when playing out their roles and characters in this lively production.

That result is a testament to the guidance and leadership delivered by Heather Diaforli-Day, the conscientious Director of the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Theatre Arts.

She was gratified by the finished product on stage during the performances.

“ I am incredibly proud of every student involved in this production and so grateful to have the opportunity to create theatre with them here at Bridgewater-Raritan High School,” claimed Ms. Diaforli-Day the Theatre and Music Teacher at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

Her tireless and energetic work with the students are well respected.

Matt McCarthy, the supervisor for Arts Education in the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District, came away as a satisfied customer in the high school auditorium during the performance on Friday, April 4.

“Ms. Diaforli-Day put together a spectacular production. The singing and dancing were phenomenal. The sets looked amazing and the band rocked,” Mr. McCarthy said.

The curtain will rise again to the delight of Mr. McCarthy.

“When you consider the caliber of our extracurricular productions and the growth of our curricular program it’s clear that Bridgewater-Raritan Theatre Arts has a lot of momentum right now.

“ I can’t wait to see what they do next.”

Neither can we.
