On Friday, October 25, at 5 p.m., the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District will orchestrate a short ceremony for the rededication of John Basilone Memorial Field.
The ceremony will be held before the 7 p.m. football game between Bridgewater-Raritan High School and Phillipsburg High School.
During this event, the BRRSD officials will unveil a monument in honor of Marine Sgt—John Basilone, a resident of Raritan, N.J. John Basilone was the only Marine to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross for his bravery and action at Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima during World War II.
The BRRSD has invited several dignitaries and veterans’ groups to the ceremony, which is also open to the general public. Hope to see you there.
